Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report preliminary tests show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior official commented the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
